Art in Bloom 2009 is so close you can almost smell the thousands of fresh flowers arranged to complement some of the Museum's finest artworks from March 11-15. The festivities kick off Wednesday, March 11 at the annual Patron Party (6-7 p.m.) and Preview Party (7-10 p.m.) with music by Anais St. John and Harry Mayronne, the live and silent auctions, plus cuisine and libations from more than 25 of the city's finest restaurants, markets, bars, caterers and distributors. Thursday's happenings include seminars by New Orleans-based artist Tim Trapolin (9:30 a.m.) and popular author Julia Reed (11 a.m.), followed by a Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show and Luncheon featuring jewelry designer Joan Hornig at City Park's Pavilion of the Two Sisters (12:30 p.m.). All of the Art in Bloom floral arrangements will remain on view to the public through Sunday.
