You could travel for miles and weeks throughout Louisiana and you'd still never discover all the great eats visitors will find in one weekend along 4 city blocks in the heart of the French Quarter! Here is an opportunity for locals as well as travelers to sample fare that is exotic indeed to appetites from Minnesota or California, and to discover exquisite specialties little-known even to Louisianians. Admission is free; proceeds from food and beverage sales go to participating restaurants, including New Orleans' own Cafe Reconcile , which provides at-risk kids the opportunity to learn the food service business. Café Reconcile will be serving their signature White Beans and Shrimp, and their James Beard award winning Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. http://www.louisianaroadfoodfestival.com/ Contact Us General Inquiries Sarah Schlesinger Project Manager, NOCCI sschlesinger@nocci.com 504-293-2657 Louisiana Oyster Jubilee to Celebrate Culinary Culture Get ready to enjoy oysters like never before at the Louisiana Oyster Jubilee on Saturday, April 4 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. New Orleans Musical Legends, Inc. (NOML) and Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board (LSPMB) have partnered together to throw the biggest oyster party in New Orleans. “It’s going to be a blast,” says Ewell Smith, Director of LSPMB. “It started out as a one time event to spur business in the French Quarter and boost a recovering seafood industry, but everyone had such a great time that we decided to improve it and bring it back for a third run. We want as many people as possible to come out here and spice up their love life with Louisiana oysters.” Last year, it took fifteen restaurants and 5,200 oysters to build the colossal 340 foot long Oyster Po-boy. “It only took fifteen minutes for the public to devour it.” This year, however, while some of the po-boy will be handed out to the public, the event sponsors will get first pick. “This fun event will sure to attract a large crowd to the French Quarter,” said Peggy Scott Laborde, Senior Producer for WYES. “New Orleans is known for its food, music and throwing great parties and this year’s Louisiana Oyster Jubilee is no exception.” The Second Line from the Louisiana Oyster Jubilee on Bourbon St. to the Louisiana RoadFood Festival on Royal St., will include nationally recognized food writers, The Treme Brass Band, Mardi Gras Indians, and pirates from the Crewe of Jean LaFete. 10:00 AM Treme’ Brass Band starts 10:30 AM Chefs arrive 10:45 AM Media block with Chefs 11:30 AM * Acme start frying oysters in NOML Park * Mardi Gras Mohicans Indians arrive * Chefs dress and prepare their part of the Oyster Po-boy 11:50 AM Ceremonial Prayer and Speech 12:00 PM Ceremonial Cut of the Oyster Po-boy 12:20 PM Second Line begins from Bourbon Street to the Louisiana Road Food Festival on Royal Street For more information please call (504) 293-2647 or visit http://www.oysterjubilee.com/ Contact: Christine Gourgeot (504) 293-2647 / cgourgeot@nocci.com Dottie Belletto (985) 264-7579 / dbelletto@nocci.com |
