POLICE, FIRE & EMS ANNUAL INSPECTION
AND MEMORIAL MASS

The Annual Inspection and Memorial Mass celebrated by the New Orleans Police, Fire, and EMS Departments will be held in Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral on Sunday, May 3, 2009.

Police Officers, Firefighters and members of EMS will assemble at l0:15 A.M. for inspection by Mayor C. Ray Nagin, Superintendent Warren J. Riley, Superintendent Charles Parent and EMS Director Jullette Saussy, M.D., representatives of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and Chaplains of the NOPD and NOFD.

The Memorial Mass, following at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Louis Cathedral, will be celebrated by the most Reverend Alfred C. Hughes, Archbishop of New Orleans. Father Michael Buckman will be con-celebrant representing the New Orleans Police and Fire Departments. He will be assisted by the NOPD Chaplains Connie Daniel, Joe Cull, Howard Gillette and Lynn Hyder.

The Memorial Service, dating from the early 1900’s, is held as a solemn tribute to Police Officers and Firefighters who have given their lives for their community. The service will also honor the dedicated years of service by members, both active and retired, who are now deceased.
