Kick-off at Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar Anniversary

WHAT:
3500 people converge on Royal Street for the Royal Street Stroll, a definitive evening event of the 18th annual New Orleans Food & Wine Experience. The event, deemed the "local's favorite," brings together New Orleans' greatest gifts: rare antiques, fine art, live jazz and stunning historic architecture with the world's outstanding wines. After a toast to the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar at the Anniversary Street Party, wine lovers shop the enchanting galleries of Royal Street while experiencing wine offerings at each stop, as live jazz music fills the air. Proceeds from all of NOWFE's events benefit numerous organizations dedicated to the local community.

The Hotel Monteleone celebrates the 60th anniversary of the legendary Carousel Bar with a carnival themed celebration featuring Johnny Angel and the Swingin' Demons, swing dancers, prizes, and 1940's cocktails at 1940's prices. A portion of the proceeds from the Carousel Bar celebration will benefit New Orleans' other famous carousel in City Park.

WHY:
The Carousel Bar's Anniversary Street Party will be hosted by Rita Benson LeBlanc of the New Orleans Saints and Mike Theis of Mix 92.3. Inside the Hotel Monteleone, the celebration will continue after the street party ends with live music from 8:00PM- until the wee hours.

NOWFE celebrates its 18th year as one of the preeminent food and wine festivals in the country presenting wine dinners, wine and food seminars, special events and Grand Tastings. Several of Bravo's Top Chef contestants will return to the Monteleone for another sighting, because they will be featured at various NOWFE special events and the Saturday Grand Tasting.
